Cyano Type Printing & Toning with Parkhang Collective

Workshop

Cyano Type Printing & Toning with Parkhang Collective

The session will have a brief introduction about various historical printing methods and how the landscape and the surroundings can be a part of the process. We will be going through some of the works created by the community using these printing techniques to share their stories. The workshop will focus on learning one of the printing methods named cyanotype which is also known as the blueprint process. In the early days the paper was coated with iron salts and then used in contact printing by leaving them under sunlight. The paper was then washed in water and resulted in a white image on a deep blue background. We would also learn how to tone a cyanotype print into different shades by using tannin based dyes and discuss how this method can be used to print on different surfaces apart from paper"
